Summary
The Wisconsin State Supreme Court consists of 7 justices elected to 10-year terms. They are chosen in statewide elections on the nonpartisan April ballot and take office on the following August 1. The justice with the most seniority on the court serves as chief justice unless he or she declines the position. This year's election took place on April 7, 2009.
