Last year, former Wisconsin governor Martin Schreiber learned he could no longer care for his beloved wife, Elaine, in their Milwaukee home. That’s when he learned the high personal price he had paid for care giving for as long as he had; his own medical bills to recover were more than $360,000. He now helps Elaine, who has a picture of her dancing with former President Jimmy Carter in the White House, enjoy moment-by-moment joys.
