In the mid-summer edition of Civil Dialogue, recorded on Aug. 1, Republican Rep. Robin Vos and Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca fought over whether Wisconsin should take steps to comply with the federal Affordable Care Act, who will be elected the next U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, and whether there was fraud in the 21st District recall election won by Democratic Sen. John Lehman of Racine. Although Barca said Democrats hope there will be a special fall legislative session to work on jobs-related issues, Vos said there is no chance of that happening. They agreed on one thing, however: There will be no major changes to the Wisconsin Retirement System, which runs the pension system for about 578,000 public workers, retirees and their beneficiaries.
