Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, said he should be the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in the June 5 recall election of Lt. Gov. Rebecca KIeefisch because he has fought the 2011 changes pushed by Gov. Scott Walker and Kleefisch "from the beginning." In a Newsmakers interview, Mitchell said he would work as lieutenant governor on job creation, education and fighting poverty.  The Madison Fire Department lieutenant said cuts in state aid from  the budget Walker signed into law has hurt local emergency police and fire departments across Wisconsin. Mitchell and Ira Robins will compete in the May 8 Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.
