Would You Pay a Nickel for Open State Government?
Message to Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-verse Customers in Wisconsin
WisconsinEye is a television network first, created primarily for cable TV viewing. In order to bring open state government to those who don’t have cable, we also make our programming available on the Web at wiseye.org. WisconsinEye is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives NO state funding and instead relies on contributions from our private donor community, including cable, to pay for the public service we provide.
Like other cable channels, we ask our cable partners to pay a monthly per-subscriber fee to help pay a share of what it costs us to continue to operate. WisconsinEye's standard subscriber fee to commercial carriers is $0.05 per subscriber per month, or just 60 cents per year. That is far less than most cable channels, well under the industry average of $0.20 monthly, and also less than C-SPAN, the national cable public affairs channel. (See accompanying chart for channel-to-channel comparison.)

Our standard subscriber fee is remarkably low because we keep our operating costs to a minimum and substantially below the national average for statewide public affairs networks. Our goal at WisEye is to deliver high value programming at the lowest possible cost.
WisconsinEye is not currently available to Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-verse customers in Wisconsin because they have declined to pay our standard subscriber fee. Your voice, as a citizen of Wisconsin and a TWC or AT&T customer, is of vital importance in this matter. You can help decide whether WisconsinEye is available on your television. If open state government is worth a nickel to add to your cable channel lineup, please let these companies know you want your WisconsinEye.
It's your voice and your choice.
